I was born in Fredericksburg, Virginia. Growing up, I spent a lot of time either on or in the water. Early on, I decided I wanted to be a marine biologist. After graduating from high school at Fredericksburg Academy, I went on to St. Mary’s College of Maryland where I received my BA in Biology and Mathematics, minoring in environmental science. I attended graduate school at the Chesapeake Biological Laboratory and graduated with an MS in Marine, Estuarine, and Environmental Science, specializing in fisheries science. I am currently a coastal resource management Peace Corps Volunteer in the Philippines.
